What It’s Actually Like Joining a Gaming Group in Perth

If you’ve ever thought about joining a gaming community but weren’t sure what to expect, you’re not alone. A lot of people picture sweaty competitive lobbies or cliquey Discord servers where everyone already knows each other. We get it. That’s not what Checkpoint Club is.

Two people wearing headphones sit side by side gaming at monitors in a dark room with green LED lighting.

We’re a casual gaming group based in Perth that meets online once a week for co-op sessions. There’s no skill requirement, no tryouts, no pressure to show up every single week. Some of our members are experienced PC gamers, others picked up their first game a few months ago. The sessions are late-night, usually pretty relaxed, and the only real rule is don’t be a dickhead. We rotate through different games depending on what people feel like — sometimes it’s a chill Stardew Valley farm night, sometimes it’s absolute chaos in GTA.

One thing people don’t expect is how easy it is to just slot in. Gaming groups can feel intimidating from the outside, but the reality is most community-based groups are run by people who genuinely want new members. That’s definitely the case here. You join the Discord, say hi, and show up when you feel like it. There’s no commitment beyond that. If you’re in Perth and looking for people to game with — or even if you’re not in Perth, since everything’s online anyway — we’d love to have you. You can find more about what we play on our games page, or just jump into the Discord and introduce yourself.
