For a lot of us, our first ever experience with tennis wasn’t picking up a racket — it was swinging a Wii Remote in our lounge room. Wii Sports Tennis was one of those games that brought everyone together regardless of skill level. Your mum, your little cousin, your mate who’d never touched a controller before — everyone could pick it up and have a good time. That’s something we try to capture at Checkpoint Club with every session we run. Whether it’s a late-night round of Stardew Valley or a chaotic GTA heist, the point isn’t being the best player in the room, it’s just having fun with good people. And honestly, that same energy exists in real-world sports communities too.

That’s why we wanted to shout out Tennis Racket Social, a Perth-based tennis club that runs on pretty much the same philosophy — get people together, keep things social, and make it welcoming for beginners and seasoned players alike. If you’ve ever thought about getting off the couch and picking up an actual racket after years of only playing Mario Tennis Aces, their classes page is a solid place to start. And if you’d rather stay on the couch? Well, that’s what we’re here for. Either way, Perth’s got a community for you.
